BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Delta State University placed eight Statesmen on the Gulf South Conference All-Decade Football teams for the years of 2010-19 released on Tuesday, June 16, 2020.
Offensive guard Michael Gibbs was the lone Statesman selected to the first team. Wide receiver Chance Dennis, linebacker Rory Island, defensive back Dominique Davenport and punter Cody Mills earned second-team laurels. Quarterback Micah Davis, defensive back Junior Faulk and running back Christ Robinson earned honorable mention honors.

Michael Gibbs (OG | 2013-14)

Gibbs played and started in 21 career games at offensive guard from 2013-14, grading 90 percent both seasons and registering 45 career knockdown blocks. The Brandon, Miss., native graded 97 percent in DSU’s 33-28 win over North Alabama and turned in a 100 percent game grade in DSU’s 45-25 win at West Alabama in 2014.
Chance Dennis (WR | 2010-2011)

Dennis played in 28 career games, catching 132 passes for 1,829 yards and 11 touchdowns while rushing for 79 yards on 11 carries. Dennis ranks sixth in career receptions and yardage at DSU and also returned three punts for 20 yards and totaled 1,928 all-purpose yards. The Houston, Texas, native had a record-setting season with a career-high 80 receptions for 1,022 yards and seven touchdowns, leading the GSC in both categories and was only GSC receiver with over 1,000 yards receiving. His 80 receptions in 2011 rank second all-time in school history.
Rory Island (LB | 2011-2014)

Island played in 43 career games, registering 206 career tackles, including 125 solo stops, 26.5 tackles for loss, and 9.5 sacks from 2011-2014. The Waveland, Miss., native also tallied one interception, five pass deflections, one fumble forced and one fumble recovery during his tenure.
Dominique Davenport (DB | 2010-2011)

Davenport played in 36 career contests from 2010-2011, tallying 167 career tackles, 6.0 tackles-for-loss, and school-records for 14 interceptions (14) and passes defended (54).
Cody Mills (P | 2014-2018)

Mills played in 40 games handling kickoffs, punts, and field goals over his DSU that spanned from 201r-2018. The Oxford, Miss., native punts 156 times for 6.755 yards and a 43.3 career punting average. Mills saw 48 of his punts pinned inside opponent’s 20-yard line and 31 of his punts sail over 50 yards with a long of 76. He also made 7-of-9 field goal attempts and made 39-of-41 extra points.
Micah Davis (QB | 2010-2011)

Davis played in 29 career games, all starts, finishing with a 22-7 career record as a starter. The Wesson, Miss., product completed 655-of-1,041 passes for 7.885 yards with 56 touchdowns and 39 interceptions while rushing for 353 yards on 203 carries with 18 scores. Davis accumulated 8.238 yards of total offense on 1,244 plays while wrapping up his career ranked second in career passing yards, completions, attempts and total offense in school history. His 62.9 completion percentage in 2011 set a new DSU single season record.
Junior Faulk (DB | 2019-Present)

Faulk played and started and started in 10 games at cornerback helping the Statesmen to a 6-4 record. The Jayess, Miss., product led the GSC and NCAA Division II in interceptions per game (1.0) and interceptions (9) and passes defended per game (2.2). Faulk also led the GSC with 22 total passes defended (13 PBU | 9 INTs). He also recorded 37 tackles, 32 solo stops, with a fumble forced and a fumble recovery while helping the Statesmen defense lead the GSC in total defense (309.2 ypg.), rush defense (122.0 ypg.) and sacks per game (2.70).
Chris Robinson (RB | 2016-17)

Robinson’s 1,324 yards on 268 attempts in 2017 rank fifth on the single-season rushing charts at DSU, while his 2,300 career yards are seventh in school history. The Bude, Miss., native set a DSU career touchdowns record with 44 (sixth in GSC history) from 2016-17 and also setting a DSU game record (T1st | GSC) with six scores versus the University of West Florida (5 rush/1 receiving). Robinson’s 266 points in his DSU career to rank second in school history. Robinson led all of NCAA Division II in scoring with 144 points (14.4 points per game) while establishing a new GSC and Delta State record for touchdowns with 24 in 2016. Robinson also topped the GSC in rushing, carrying the ball 186 times for 976 yards and 19 touchdowns in 2016.
