BLUE MOUNTAIN – (Box Score) Kandice Ricks (JR/Muscle Shoals, Ala.) drained a three from the wing with four seconds left against Southeastern Baptist Saturday, giving the Lady Toppers a 65-62, and the third win of the season.
Blue Mountain beat up on the Lady Chargers earlier in the week, winning in a 30-point rout.
With time winding down, Southeastern’s Temeshia Gray drained a falling-away three to tie it at 62-62. Ricks’ heroics followed shortly after.
Southeastern would give the Lady Toppers a scare in the third quarter, going up 10 before BMC fought back to take the lead.
Ricks would go on to score 23 points to lead all scorers, including six three-pointers.
Mackenzie Lane (JR/Pontotoc, Miss.) would notch a double-double for the Lady Toppers, getting 15 points and 14 rebounds.
Gray led the Lady Chargers with 18 points.
“Our ladies showed a lot of resiliency today,” head coach Tracy Rice said. “They didn’t panic when we got down and continued to run our offense and chipped away. I’m really proud of how they finished.”
BMC (3-4) will open SSAC play Tuesday at home against Faulkner at 5 p.m.
