BLUE MOUNTAIN – Blue Mountain College has announced the hiring of Aron Bassoff to lead the women’s soccer program that begins its inaugural season this coming fall.
Bassoff, of Lititz, Penn., has a lengthy collegiate career on the pitch, amassing a 172-126-21 record as a coach. As a women’s collegiate coach, Bassoff has a 54-36-5.
Bassoff is currently on the recruiting trail for BMC. “I think we will surprise everyone for a first-year team,” Bassoff said. “I expect to be strong out of the gate and be able to win more games than we lose.”
The new Topper coach has put together nine seasons where he has won 10 or more matches, has 11 winning seasons, three conference/region championships, seven nationally ranked teams in NCAA II, NCAA III, NAIA and NCCAA, eight team academic awards, three conference Player of the Year student-athletes and an NCAA tournament appearance at Davis & Elkins College in 2012.
“I believe as a Christian I have a great platform in athletics to use the talents and gifts God has given me to reach the world. We want to make sure we represent BMC well on and off the field,” he said.
Bassoff’s last coaching stop in college was in 2015 at Shorter University as the men’s coach.
“I’m thankful to Athletic Director Will Lowrey and President McMillin for the opportunity to coach the inaugural women’s team at BMC. God’s hand was truly behind bringing this all together and I’m excited to begin the process.”
“Coach Bassoff has tremendous experience in growing a soccer program and competing on a national level in collegiate athletics,” Lowrey said. “He understands and walks out his faith by using his coaching platform to glorify Christ. We couldn’t be more excited to land a coach of his caliber.”
