BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. – (Box Score) With only one of two men’s NAIA games being played in the nation Tuesday, Blue Mountain College men whipped Southeastern Baptist here, 97-79.
Blue Mountain got off to a fast start, jumping ahead to a 23-4 lead midway through the first half while shooting an incredible 77 percent from the floor before halftime.
The Toppers were up 60-32 at the break, thanks to easy buckets in the lane, long bombs from three and stifling defense.
Luka Tejic (JR/Uzice, Serbia) had his best game of his career at Blue Mountain, leading with a double-double with 28 points and 10 rebounds.
Aleksa Vujadinovic (JR/Niksic, Montenegro) chipped in 21 points and nine boards, while Brandon Williams (JR/Dyersburg, Tenn.) dropped 17 for Blue Mountain.
The Toppers eventually would shoot 59 percent from the field on the night, while hitting eight threes. The Blue Mountain defense would also force 18 Mustang turnovers.
“I was really pleased with how our guys got after it tonight,” Topper head coach Jermael Bingham said. “We shot the ball well and scored in transition. We have to continue to get performances out of three or four of our guys each night like this. If we do that, we’ll be okay.”
Blue Mountain (3-3) returns to action Thursday at 5 p.m. on the road against Philander Smith.
