BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. – (Box Score) Stillman upped its perfect record to 5-0, 4-0 SSAC Friday night in Blue Mountain, easing by the Toppers 99-74.
The matchup was competitive until the 10-minute mark in the first half when Stillman started to pull away, led by star guard Devin Merriweather.
Merriweather and the Tigers would use a 13-0 run to finish off the first half and lead 51-28 at the break.
Stillman’s E.J. Galloway punished the Toppers in the paint, recording a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Merriweather would finish with 19 to lead the Tigers.
Trey Petty pitched in 15 for Stillman, followed by Tomias Brand with 13.
Blue Mountain top scorer Brandon Williams (JR/Dyersburg, Tenn.) led everyone with 21 points, followed by Aleksa Vujadinovic (JR/Niksic, Montenegro) with 10. Luka Tejic (JR/Uzice, Serbia) missed a double-double by two points, finishing with eight points and 11 boards.
The loss is Blue Mountain’s sixth straight and drops the Toppers to 3-9, 0-3 SSAC.
The two teams will meet up again tomorrow in Blue Mountain in the Western Division of the SSAC with a 5 p.m. tip.
