BLUE MOUNTAIN – (Box Score) Blue Mountain won a close one here Tuesday over former SSAC rival Bethel 4-3 in a 9-inning affair.
Blue Mountain scored in the first on an RBI single by Will Brooks (JR/Madison, Miss.) to score Jordan Chatham (FR/Fulton, Miss.) and Matt Crowder (JR/Madison, Miss.) later drove in Brooks with a single to left center.
Bethel answered with two runs in the top of the second, but Blue Mountain fired back with a score by Nash Schingle (FR/Lake Cormorant, Miss.) on a wild throw.
The Wildcats tied it at 3-3 in the third on an RBI single by Jacob Foster.
The Toppers took the lead back in the fourth on a sac fly by Brooks that scored Chatham.
That would be all the Toppers needed to down their former SSAC foe.
BMC’s Easton Williams (JR/Ingomar, Miss.) (1-0) picked up the pitching win, tossing five innings, giving up two earned runs on five hits and struck out four.
Bryant Morgan (FR/Tupelo, Miss.) finished with two hits for Blue Mountain, while Brooks had two RBI and Chatham scored twice.
BMC (13-13, 3-9 SSAC) will host former SSAC opponent Martin Methodist tomorrow at 1 p.m. at Topper Field.
