LAUREL – Blue Mountain took care of Southeastern Baptist here Tuesday, winning 71-65 and giving Blue Mountain a 3-0 lead all-time against the Chargers.
A messy game for both teams from the tip, Blue Mountain would settle down in their offense and get the defensive stops needed to pull out the non-conference victory over the NCCCAA program.
Brandon Williams (JR/Dyersburg, Tenn.) led the Toppers from the floor, hitting for 18 points while also grabbing six rebounds.
Jaron Masis (JR/Guapiles, Costa Rica) and Luka Tejic (JR/Uzice, Serbia) both chipped in 10 points in the win for Blue Mountain.
“It wasn’t the prettiest win, but we’ll take it,” Topper head coach Jermael Bingham said. “Southeastern is a really athletic team that put up a really hard-fought game. Our guys still looked a little out of sync out there, but I think we’ll pull it together the more we continue to play.”
BMC (2-1) returns Nov. 17 for the first home game against Rust College (Miss.) with a 7 p.m. tip.
