MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Southern States Athletic Conference announced today Blue Mountain College Volleyball garnered 18 awards for the 2021 season.
After having a record year where BMC won 26 regular season games, the Volley Toppers saw Julianna Taylor (SR/Bear Creek, Ala.), Taylor Wright (SR/Huntsville, Ala.) and Jaiyah Jackson (FR/Alexander, Ark.) receive the top distinction of being named First-Team All-Conference.
Jackson didn’t finish there, as she was also awarded the Co-Freshman of the Year for the SSAC alongside Loyola’s Simone Moreau, while also leading the SSAC All-Freshman Team.
Second-Team All-Conference selections for BMC included Anna Lucas (JR/Athens, Ala.), Tori Walker (JR/Florence, Ala.) and Skyler Benson (JR/Priceville, Ala.). Benson would also be named to the SSAC’s Champions of Character Team.
Benson, Lucas, Taylor, Walker, Mackenzie Anderson (JR/Ogallala, Neb.), Cassidy Dotter (JR/Walsenburg, Colo.), Johanna Hoffpauir (JR/Trinidad, Colo.), Taylor Lallman and Karrien Marteniuk (SR/Lloydminster, Saskatchewan) received the distinction of being named to the Barnes & Noble College All-Academic Team for the conference.
BMC head coach Reid Gann said of the awards, “It has been a tremendous year for us. Not only am I extremely proud of all our honorees, but I am so proud of this entire team. They are resilient and tough, and I consider myself blessed to coach them.”
